Call for Papers
We invite interested scholars worldwide to read papers at the 2004 international conference held by the English Linguistics Society of Korea(ELSOK) in June 18-19, 2004. The special topic for this year's conference is Otto Jespersen's English Scholarship. Eminent Scholars in this field, domestically and internationally, have already been invited to give a talk at plenary sessions. Among them, some representative figures are Matti Rissanen from Finland ("On Jespersen’s historical syntax"), Michiko Ogura from Japan ("The King Liked Pears: a Choice rather than a Change"), Chin Woo Kim from the U.S. ("Jespersen and the Origin of Language"), and Sang-Beom Cheon, Suk-Jin Chang, Keeyong Lee, Byung-soo Park, Ik-whan Lee, Young Bae Park. from Korea. Although the Conference will mainly focus on analyzing and reinterpreting Otto Jespersen's works, any English related topics including the history of English, phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, will be also welcomed for a separate session on English linguistics.
